New York, NY -- The New York
Urban League will hold its 52nd Annual Frederick Douglass Dinner Awards on Tuesday,
May 16 at 7:30, at Pier Sixty on the Hudson River in Manhattan.
This
year's event will honor American Fashion Designer Tracy Reese; and Tiffany R.
Warren, Senior VP, Chief Diversity Officer, Omnicom Group and Founder
and President, ADCOLOR®. Both will receive the Frederick Douglass
Medallion. Erica Payne, President, Patriotic Millionaires will receive the Ann
S. Kheel Award.
The
event is being sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies, Deloitte, HBO, GEICO,
Little Mendelson, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Moet & Hennessey, Malecon
Productions, Omnicom Group, TASK/Kheel Family and UPS.
For a half-century, the New
York Urban League has presented the Frederick
Douglass Medallion to individuals and organizations that have
contributed in a wide variety of ways to the causes of social justice,
education and equality. Since that time the dinner has continued to honor
individuals and companies who use their platforms in business, the arts,
entertainment and sports to champion racial equality and social justice for
all.
In 2010 the Ann S. Kheel Award
was added to the event named after the event’s founder and long-time NYUL board
member and benefactor.
