The state
has issued $43.8 million in five-year grants to hospitals, health
centers and county health departments statewide to help prevent cancer
and provide free screenings to uninsured and low-income New Yorkers.
The $39.4
million Cancer Services Program aims to address the disparities in
breast, cervical and colorectal cancer rates among different
socioeconomic groups.
