ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo said Tuesday he’ll call a May 23 special election
to fill the state Senate seat recently vacated when Bill Perkins won
election to the City Council.

the Senate, enough for a majority — except for the fact that nine are
aligned with the GOP.

Whoever wins would take office after the April 1 budget deadline, but
several weeks before the scheduled June 21 end of the legislation
session, Cuomo said.
