Inflation in Germany rose in February, reaching its highest level in
four-and-a-half years, mainly due to more expensive energy and food.
Consumer prices in the eurozone’s largest economy were up by 2.2
percent from a year ago, above the European Central Bank’s price
stability target and up from January’s 1.9 percent.
It was the highest annual inflation rate since August 2012.
Core inflation – which strips out volatile fresh food and energy
costs – was up 1.3 percent, an increase from January’s 1.2 percent.
