The cop son of police union head Patrick Lynch has been stripped of his
gun and shield for not reporting a friend of his, also a cop,
accidentally fired his weapon while they sat in a car in Queens, police
sources said.
Officers Kevin Lynch, 23, the son of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent
Association president, and Robert Smilove, 22, were sitting in Smilove’s
mom’s car, down the block from Smilove’s Whitestone home just before 11
p.m. Sunday, sources said.
Smilove, who joined the force in January, had recently bought a
five-shot .38-caliber revolver, and was showing it to Lynch, sources
said.
