The
Vice President met yesterday with His Majesty King Abdullah II in
Amman, Jordan. The two leaders discussed our ongoing cooperation to
defeat ISIL and promote a negotiated
political settlement to the conflict in Syria.
They also discussed
current tensions between Israelis and Palestinians, as well as
opportunities for Jordan to increase its energy diversification.
The
Vice President reiterated the United States' unwavering commitment
to Jordan's security and stability, and praised the ongoing military
cooperation between the two countries.
He also thanked His Majesty for Jordan's generosity in hosting over 635,000 registered Syrian refugees.
