Cuomo, House Democrats and the left romped while GOP, Schumer and the Board of Elections lost big league

Tuesday's blue wave was more like an ocean current in New York, eroding a few structures and shoring up others.
Power has flowed toward Democrats at the state and national level—and
toward one Democrat in particular. Meanwhile, signs proliferated of
discontent with a number of New York institutions.
Here's who rode the wave and who got wiped out:
1. Gov. Andrew Cuomo: For his third term, Cuomo will
return to Albany not as its governor but as its unquestioned king. It's
not just that he shellacked Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro by
21 points. His strategic interventions and investments in a handful of
state Senate candidates have left a substantial chunk of the upper
chamber's incoming Democratic majority in his debt, and he is certain to
collect. The battle for the body showcased his power and monetary
prowess. A $2 million infusion helped turn the seemingly safe-Republican
22nd Senate District, where GOP state Sen. Martin Golden had resisted
some of his policy initiatives, into a Democratic possession. The
message is clear: obey the governor or face the consequences.
