It could soon be illegal to serve alcohol if you're under 21 in New York.
WETM-TV reports
the New York State Assembly has passed a new ball that would change the
legal age for serving alcohol or handling open containers from 18 years
old to 21. The drinking age is 21 in all U.S. states, but NY and more
than 30 other states currently allow liquor to be served at age 18.
The bill would affect bars and wineries across the Empire State, as
well as recent high school graduates or college students working in the
service industry. One 18-year-old bartender told WTEM that she would be
forced to go back to hostessing, where she only makes minimum wage.
