Thruway, Teamsters Reach Contract Agreement for Toll Takers, Maintenance Workers

By Rick Karlin

After five years without a contract, the state Thruway’s 2,462 toll takers, maintenance workers and others represented by the Teamsters union have a deal.

Members of Teamsters Local 72 are expected to ratify the new contract by Nov. 30, state negotiator Joe Bress told board members of the state Thruway Authority on Monday.

“You’ll have five years going forward,” he said of the agreement which runs through June 2022 and has 2 percent raises from 2015 (retroactively) through the end of the contract, for a total of seven increases over the life of the deal.
