to the passing of Reverend Dr. Fletcher Crawford, Pastor Emeritus of Union
Grove Missionary Baptist Church in the 79th Assembly District, New York State
Assembly Member Michael Blake released the following statement:
“We lost a titan in our community today as Rev. Dr. Fletcher Crawford was called on home to be with The Lord. Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church has been a staple in our community since October 23, 1946 when it was organized by his father, the late Reverend Jeremiah Crawford with a membership of 123 people. For 50 years, Rev. Dr. Frederick C. Crawford was the epitome of being a doer of the word, combining ministry with service.
“We mourn the Rev. Dr. Fletcher C. Crawford. We mourn the loss of his leadership and spiritual guidance. Our prayers are with his entire family, including his son Rev. Dr. Frederick C. Crawford, and the congregation of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, which is a cornerstone in the lives of my mother, me and thousands of families in the South Bronx. Walk with the angels, Brother Crawford. We will honor your legacy for all of the days to come.”
