NYS Assemblyman Takes Action After 4-Year-Old is Shot

Bronx, NY - Wednesday, In response to the shooting of three people in the Bronx, including a 4-year-old girl, New York State Assembly Member Michael Blake released the following statement:

“It hurts me to my core to hear of another senseless shooting, this time involving three people including a 4-year-old girl. We’re extremely thankful none of the injuries are life threatening.

Jaheem Hunter, the 5-year-old boy that was shot last month, is still fighting for his life. Officer Familia was laid to rest yesterday. What will it take to end the violence in our communities? How many more of our kids have to be caught in the line of fire before we decide enough is enough?

This Saturday, we are organizing a canvass of our community. We will be knocking on doors, talking to our neighbors, and asking what we can do to help them and bring peace to our streets. Members of the community will be organizing a meeting on Monday at 1pm to talk about solutions to ending the violence in our neighborhoods. If you wish to join with us, e-mail us at: blakem@nyassembly.gov for more information

There has been too much pain, and so we take action.”
