Oval Office Chat: Varadkar and Macron


 
President Trump spoke today with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to congratulate him on his new role as the prime minister of Ireland.  President Trump underscored the importance of the United States-Ireland relationship and invited Taoiseach Varadkar to participate in the traditional White House St. Patrick’s Day celebration in March 2018.

The President also spoke with President Emmanuel Macron of France to congratulate the French people on France’s successful parliamentary elections.  President Trump complimented President Macron for his leadership of the new political party that secured a majority in the French National Assembly and wished him luck in launching his legislative agenda. The two leaders also discussed the current situation in the Middle East and reviewed the agenda for the upcoming G20 Summit.
