Rep. Pete King said Sunday he fully supports President Donald Trump's
executive order temporarily halting immigration from seven
predominantly Muslim countries, calling the measure "long overdue" in an
interview with POLITICO New York.
"I fully support the executive order, I think it was overdue," said King, a Republican who represents parts of Long Island.
King said that the seven countries in Trump's executive order — with
the exception of Iran — "are basically governments that are out of
control."
"We can't count on getting meaningful intelligence from them and
that’s why we have to do extraordinary vetting," he said. He said he
supports the idea of potentially expanding the immigration ban to
include other countries at some point in the future.
