ALBANY — A week after Democrats held their national convention in
Philadelphia, Gov. Andrew Cuomo hosted a mini-summit with several fellow
Democrats in the state Senate to discuss winning strategies in
November.
The conference took place on Aug. 4 at the Harvard Club in midtown,
and involved the Democratic governor, Senate Democratic leader Andrea
Stewart-Cousins and Queens Sen. Mike Gianaris, leader of the Democratic
Senate Campaign Committee. A top Cuomo aide, Melissa DeRosa, was also
present, as were
Sens. Tim Kennedy of Buffalo and Todd Kaminsky of Long
Island, sources said.
A spokesman for Senate Democrats declined to comment. Cuomo
spokesman Rich Azzopardi confirmed the meeting but declined to elaborate
on what was discussed.
