German Chancellor Angela Merkel called for an integrated European Union
military on Tuesday, echoing rhetoric used by French President Emmanuel
Macron last week which prompted President Donald Trump to lash out on
Twitter, criticizing Macron and his plan.
Merkel was giving a keynote speech at the European Parliament in which
she consciously backed Macron's call for European defence planning,
operations and weapons development.
