On May 26, flags will be loaded onto a vehicle at the Senator John J. Hughes State Office Building, 333 East Washington Street in Syracuse at 9:00 a.m.
They will then be delivered to the brown parking lot at the New York State Fairgrounds where they will be handed off at 9:30 a.m. to representatives of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 103.
The Office of General Services, under Governor Andrew Cuomo’s direction,
collected 2916 worn and tattered flags at drop-off locations statewide
so that they can be properly retired. The flags will be delivered by
Commissioner Destito and Joel Evans, to the State Fairgrounds so they
can be disposed of as part of Memorial Watchfire hosted by the Vietnam
Veterans of America, Chapter 103 on May 27.
