Young Woman Killed in Charlottesville Violence 'Was a Strong Person'

Rev. Al Sharpton Asks Why President Trump Has Not
Publicly Reached Out to the Family of Heather Heyer

NEW YORK, NY – This morning on MSNBC with host Stephanie Ruhle, Rev. Sharpton said it was wrong and reprehensible that President Donald Trump has not publicly offered support for the family of Heather Heyer, the advocate who was killed protesting a rally of white supremacists in Charlottesville, VA, on Saturday.

Sharpton has said that President Trump has not gone far enough to denounce the hate-filled white supremacism on display over the weekend, and to add insult to injury, President Trump has not publicly reached out to the family on behalf of the American people.

On August 28, Rev. Sharpton, along with more than one thousand ministers of all faiths and backgrounds, will convene in Washington, D.C., denouncing white supremacy and reaffirming their commitment to the social justice movement in the spirit and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
