ALBANY — New Yorkers who purchase
insurance through the state's Obamacare exchange will face steep rate hikes
next year — but not as steep as the insurers wanted.
State officials on Tuesday announced
that rates for individual policies offered through New York’s insurance
marketplace will increase, on average, 13.9% in 2018.
It will mark the second consecutive year
that consumers seeking health insurance on New York’s exchange will face double
digit rate increases. This year’s rates jumped an average of 16.6% from those
offered in 2016.
