America's Federal workforce relentlessly pursues the mission of bringing
lasting change to the lives of ordinary people across America, often at
great personal sacrifice and in the toughest of circumstances--
including a politics that does not always fully recognize the value of
their work.
The White House hosted the event to recognize the work Federal career
employees do every day to make Government more effective and efficient
for the American people, and announce the winners of the President’s
2016 Customer Service Awards. Speakers included White House Chief of
Staff Denis McDonough, White House Office of Management and Budget
Director Shaun Donovan, U.S. Chief Technology Officer Megan Smith, and
Acting Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management Beth Cobert.
