Senator Sanders to Commemorate 150th Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery

 
State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village) will commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery with a panel discussion from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015.

The event will be held at the Black Spectrum Theatre, Roy Wilkins Park, 177th Street and Baisely Boulevard in Jamaica, New York. Special guests will include Dr. Kellie Carter Jackson, professor of history at Hunter College, and Dr. Deirdre Cooper Owens, assistant professor of history at Queens College. 

The discussion will focus on whether slavery has been abolished completely and how we can fight against modern day slavery.
