Go Head-to-Head in Culinary Contest

Jamaica, New York 11420 -- for a special Battle of the Badges: FDNY vs. NYPD
Cook-off as part of our free Community Fun Day on Sunday, August 23, 2015 from
12:00 to 5:00 PM!
The
Battle of the Badges cook-off will showcase the culinary abilities of members
of the New York Fire Department and New York Police Department. The contest
will be overseen by a panel of celebrity judges: Melinda Katz, Queens Borough
President; Robert Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of Irie Jam Radio; Chef Bruno
Egea, Executive Chef for Resorts World Casino New York City; Cedric Dew,
Executive Director of the Jamaica YMCA; George Lamond, Entertainer; and Deputy
Inspector Matthew Galvin French, Culinary Institute graduate who has appeared
on several popular cooking shows alongside Bobby Flay, Rachael Ray and Lou
Diamond Phillips.
The
cook-off, which will be hosted by Ray Cooney, former FDNY firefighter and host
of PBS’s Firehouse Kitchen, will feature dishes prepared by ten members of both
the NYPD and NYFD. The winner will receive a Weber grill and a trip to Resorts
World Casino Bimini in the Bahamas.
The
event is open to the public. The festivities will include awesome
family-friendly activities such as local food trucks, musical entertainment,
face painting, pony rides, and games for all ages.
