Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Minority Leader Harry Reid
(D-NV) expressed their condolences to Vice President Biden and his
family on the passing of his eledest son, Beau Biden, who succumbed to
brain cancer Saturday night. Beau Biden was 46. He served as attorney
general of Delaware and was a major in the state's national guard. He
was a contender for the governorship until he was struck down by his
illness in August 2013. He received successful treatment initially, but
became ill recently and was admitted to Walter Reed last month. He is
survived by his wife, Hallie, and their two children, Natalie, 11, and
Hunter, 9; his parents, the vice president and Dr. Jill Biden; his
brother, Hunter; and his sister, Ashley Biden.
