George Farah, of the organization Open Debates, points out that the Commission on Presidential Debates is a privately owned corporation subject to "extraordinary control" by the Democratic and Republican candidates. Speaking to Al Jazeera's Jane Dutton, Farah said that the arrangement "undermines" U.S. democracy because the group serves the interests of the nation's two major political parties, and not the public interest of the American people.
