Addabbo, Local Students Send Valentines to Veterans
Queens, NY – New York State Senator Joseph Addabbo, Jr., who serves on the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security & Military Affairs Committee, paid tribute to the sacrifices made by American men and women in uniform by supporting school children in the district who work on a Valentine’s Day-themed project each year designed to applaud veterans housed in the Veterans Administration St. Albans Community Care Center.
On Thursday, February 16, Senator Addabbo visited residents of the center, as the representative of over 50 students from P.S. 88 in Ridgewood, and delivered their “Valentines for Vets” greetings.
For several weeks, dozens of students worked on crafting creative, colorful, expressive greeting cards and letters to show appreciation for the veterans’ service from World War II to the Middle East conflicts. Their teacher, Audrey Glass, and principal, David Bishop, met with the senator earlier that morning when he picked up the students’ work.
Senator Addabbo then visited the veterans to personally deliver heart-felt greetings from the school children.

To help his constituents file their taxes more easily and on time, Senator Addabbo is offering a free tax preparation day on Friday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Majestic Marquise, 88-03 101st Avenue (and 88th Street) in Ozone Park. No appointment is necessary.
The senator's office noted that this is a new date from the previously announced February 17 tax prep day, which was postponed due to the coordinating organizations' scheduling conflicts.

Addabbo Holds Free Tax Preparation Day
To help his constituents file their taxes more easily and on time, Senator Addabbo is offering a free tax preparation day on Friday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Majestic Marquise, 88-03 101st Avenue (and 88th Street) in Ozone Park. No appointment is necessary.
The senator's office noted that this is a new date from the previously announced February 17 tax prep day, which was postponed due to the coordinating organizations' scheduling conflicts.
This free event is designed to aid residents in need with preparing their state and federal income taxes. Similar events held last year helped more than 37,000 taxpayers in New York City to bring more than $65 million in tax refunds and credits back into the city.
New Yorkers who earn $50,000 or less with dependents, or $18,000 or less without dependents, are eligible for the City University of New York and Food Bank for New York City's free tax assistance by their trained volunteers.
To qualify for the free tax preparation you must bring the following: If filing jointly with a spouse, both of you must be present with photo IDs; Social Security cards or ITIN (or copies) for you and your spouse if filing jointly and anyone you are; claiming on your tax return, or a letter from Social Security Administration; W-2s for all jobs you held in 2011; Form 1099-G if you receive unemployment insurance in 2011; Form 10-99-INT if you received interest from a bank account in 2011; Form 1098-T if you paid tuition; Form 1098-E if you paid student loan interest; If you are claiming child care expenses, amount you paid and child care agency’s ID or name and Social Security number of the babysitter.
Residents who qualify are encouraged to attend and take advantage of this free service provided by the Food Bank for New York City and the City University of New York. If you qualify, come to the Majestic Marquise in Ozone Park on Friday, March 16 between 10 AM – 5 PM.
