Hong Kong Protests: Police Fire Pepper Pellets at Protesters Marking 1st Anniversary of Mass

Global News: Hong Kong police fired pepper pellets and pepper spray at protesters on Tuesday after they blocked off roads in the city's central business district to mark last year's 'million-person-march'.

Dozens defied a ban on social gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic and occupied roads and chanted Hong Kong independence slogans after police cleared an unauthorized march.

Last year, more than one million residents demonstrated against a now-withdrawn extradition bill that evolved into months-long protests.
