The New York City 40 Under 40 of 2017

Many of New York City’s most prominent politicians have already reached middle age. Mayor Bill de Blasio is 56, City Comptroller Scott Stringer is 57 and Public Advocate Letitia James is 58. New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, at age 48, is something of a little sister among the citywide elected officials.

Day in and day out, we focus on these individuals and their peers who, more often than not, are part of the same generation. But this week, we take a step back and look at the next generation of political leaders – all of them under the age of 40.
