SYRACUSE, N.Y. - A New York City man had a big worry when state
troopers arrested him on federal child pornography charges out of
Central New York.
"Who's my prosecutor?" he asked the officers in April. "It's not Lisa Fletcher, is it?"
State police Investigator Todd Grant told him it was. The trooper had
never had a defendant ask about his prosecutor. Why did this man want
to know?
"Well, it's obvious," the suspect said. "It's Lisa Fletcher, this is
the Northern District, and I know I'm never getting out of prison."
Another man accused of possessing child pornography in Central New
York was arrested in California and transported to a Syracuse jail. A
fellow inmate facing federal child porn charges told him he'd heard
Syracuse had become the center of the child pornography-prosecuting
universe.
"He was convinced the government was having child pornography cases
from all over prosecuted by Lisa Fletcher," FBI Special Agent Alix
Skelton said.
