Evergreen State College closed on Thursday after a “threat of violence."
The
threat comes after a multicultural group suggested white people leave
for a “day of absence,” which they claimed was meant to be a non-racist
effort.
However, a campus spokesman said there was no clear connection
between the day of absence and the threat made Thursday. College
officials did not release specific information about Thursday's threat.
The liberal school’s
campus is located off Evergreen Parkway in Olympia. Evergreen posted the
following on its website: “In response to a direct threat to campus
safety, the college is closing immediately for the day. All are asked to
leave campus or return to residence halls for instructions.”
