SWC Briefs Scotland Yard Over Terrorist's Hijacking of Social Media

“Our Digital Terrorism and Hate interactive presentation further exposed how ISIS and other purveyors of terrorism continue to leverage YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Telegram and WhatsApp, to recruit young Muslims to their cause and sow fear and frustration among concerned citizens around the world...there will be no diminishing of the threats without a change in culture and policy by the major Social Media companies”

Following recent terrorist attacks in the UK, Rabbi Abraham Cooper and Dr. Shimon Samuels, Associate Dean and International Relations Director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center conferred with top Scotland Yard police officials to discuss strategies to degrade ISIS’ continued leveraging of Social Media.

While in London, Cooper and Samuels noted, "Looking out the window of the conference room we could see both Westminster and London Bridge — two of the three sites of recent murderous terrorist attacks, which together with the Manchester Concert atrocity have left the people of England shaken.”

Cooper and Samuels also:

Made a formal presentation to Jewish community leaders and media representatives at JW3, the largest Jewish Community Center in Europe

Conferred with HG Bishop Angaelos, the leader of Coptic Christians in the UK who have been the targets of continuing murderous terror attacks in Egypt

Met with US and Israeli diplomats focusing on the Internet and Middle East issues
