WASHINGTON — Members of
Congress that represent Central New York are offering their thoughts and
prayers after a shooting at a charity baseball practice in Alexandria,
Virginia.
The shooter attacked the Republican baseball
team practicing for The Congressional Baseball Game for Charity, which
is scheduled to take place at Washington Nationals Park Thursday.
Authorities say five people, including the suspect, were taken to local
hospitals following the shooting; reports indicate Rep. Steve Scalise, two Capitol police officers, and a fourth victim were shot.
A congressional aide said Scalise was in stable condition at George
Washington University Hospital. The extent of further injuries was not
immediately available.
