Preet Bharara

So for now, but perhaps only for now, the city and the country lose Preet Bharara, who is worth a hundred of some of these guys around Donald Trump who act as if they won a coup and not an election.
So the U.S. attorney from the Southern District of our city is fired
along with 45 other U.S. attorneys from around the country. This is
officially done by the new attorney general, Jeff Sessions, who
occasionally displays such incredible lightness of being you begin to
imagine him filled with air, so much of it hot air, at least when he’s
giving his explanations about Russians.
But know that in an era when political lies have become normalized in a
relentless and frightening way, Bharara was only about the truth, and
being unafraid to follow it. Only now he finds himself a victim of our
latest Presidential version of “The Apprentice,” this one involving the
Justice Department.
