Bulgaria’s new president was elected on a wave of
discontent. After 10 years in the EU his country is still the poorest in
the bloc and considered the most corrupt. Some in the international
community are concerned that President Rumen Radev’s mandate could mark a
step towards Russia, but the president contends this does not entail a
step away from Europe.
To discuss these issues and more Isabelle Kumar spoke with the president at the Presidential Palace in Sofia.
