The riots rocking the suburbs of Paris since early February
spilled over onto the streets of the French capital on Wednesday
evening.
In the northern neighborhood of Barbes – a short walk from
the Eurostar hub of Gare du Nord – hundreds gathered to protest against
police brutality and demand justice for a 22-year-old black man who says
he was raped with an officer’s baton.
Youths set trash cans on fire and hurled bottles at police, who used tear gas to disperse them.
