SYRACUSE, N.Y. - When federal prosecutors arrested state officials
and two Syracuse developers on corruption charges, court papers
described an unsavory world of bid rigging, bribery and lying.
U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara laid out his argument against
SUNY Polytechnic Institute President Alain Kaloyeros and Cor
Development executives Steve Aiello and Joseph Gerardi – the people
behind a new nanotechnology film production studio in DeWitt.
Among other things, Bharara said state officials shared details of a
request for proposals with COR executives before they were released to
the public. In the end, Cor was the only bidder on a contract worth
millions of dollars.
