Over the last several months, Vice President Joe Biden has been ramping up his Cancer Moonshot Initiative.
Originally announced last January in President Obama’s State of the
Union Address, the Cancer Moonshot is a multi-year, one-billion-dollar
effort to cure cancer in all its various forms – including mesothelioma.
The
Cancer Moonshot Initiative is working in coordination with a number of
efforts to find a cure for cancer. For example, the Mesothelioma +
Asbestos Awareness Center (MAAC) is partnering with the Cancer Research Institute
(CRI) to raise awareness around finding a cure for cancer through the
#WhiteOutCancer campaign. CRI is dedicated to finding a way to cure
cancer by developing treatments that use the body’s immune system to fight the disease.
Most recently, Vice President Biden lead a nationwide summit
that brought patients, caregivers, doctors, cancer centers, regulators,
and other interested parties together to start a national discussion
about the moonshot initiative. While Biden lead the summit from the
White House in Washington, D.C., more than 100 centers and interest
groups around the country hosted their own local summits, which
connected to the White House through an online video feed.
To help everyone understand the importance of this new Cancer Moonshot
Initiative, the Mesothelioma + Asbestos Awareness Center has put
together an infographic that details how the initiative is designed and
provides information about the ways in which it could help lead to a
cure for cancer.
You can view the infograph here.
