WASHINGTON,
DC – Today, President Obama nominated Judge David C. Nye to serve on
the United States District Court for the District of Idaho.
“I am pleased to nominate Judge Nye to serve on the United States District Court bench,” said President Obama. “I am confident he will serve the American people with
distinction.”
Judge
David C. Nye has served as a District Judge for Idaho’s Sixth Judicial
District Court since 2007, where he presides over both civil and
criminal matters. Prior to
his appointment to the bench, from 1987 to 2007, he worked at the law
firm of Merrill & Merrill, Chartered, where he specialized in
medical malpractice and insurance law. He joined the law firm as an
associate in 1987 and was elevated to partner in 1989.
Judge Nye began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable George
G. Granata of Idaho’s Fifth Judicial District Court from 1986 to 1987.
He received his J.D. from J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young
University in 1986 and his B.A. from Brigham
Young University in 1982.
