A powerful nor'easter is slamming the
tri-state area, bringing with it blasting winds and heavy snow as
residents prepare for a potentially paralyzing blizzard with as much as
20 inches of snow.
A blizzard
warning was in effect Saturday morning from New York City to the Jersey
Shore, with conditions expected to remain hazardous until at least
Sunday morning. Storm Team 4 projects 15 to 20 inches of snowfall in New
York City, on Long Island and in nearby areas of New Jersey.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo
said Saturday morning that he was declaring a state of emergency. About
600 members of the National Guard were on hand.
