(New York, NY)
– The
Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies (FPWA) has kicked off its
annual Toy & Gift Drive, which will run the entire month of November
and conclude
on December 21, 2015. To mark the beginning of the holiday season, FPWA will also host a children’s holiday party on December 2 from 10am to 12pm with 40 children from Utopia Children’s Center in Harlem (a member agency of FPWA).
FPWA
hosts one of the largest toy drives in the New York City area. This
year, the organization
has received more than 53,000 requests from its network of member
agencies, all of whom serve low-income communities and families
throughout the greater New York City area. Typically, FWPA is only able
to fulfill 20% of the requests that we receive.
FWPA is seeking donations of new, unwrapped toys, educational materials and clothing for children ages 0-16 years. Donations can be dropped off at the FWPA headquarters at 40 Broad Street, Fifth Floor, from 9:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, until December 21, 2015.
“The
FPWA Annual Toy and Gift Drive truly captures the heart and spirit of
FPWA and its network
of community and faith-based organizations,” said Jennifer Jones
Austin, CEO and Executive Director of FPWA. “With an even greater need
this year, we are asking those who are in a position to give, to support
children and families in need this holiday season."
