Vice
President Biden hosted Indonesian President Joko Widodo for a lunch
meeting today at the Naval Observatory. The Vice President and
President Widodo exchanged views
on respective political, economic, and foreign policy issues of mutual
interest. The Vice President thanked President Widodo for his focus on
elevating engagement through the U.S.-Indonesia strategic partnership. The Vice President reiterated the United
States’ commitment to advancing peace and prosperity in the region,
including by helping to sustain the rules-based international order. The two discussed opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation and
expand multilateral cooperation on strategic issues.
