Mayhem in Malmö

Jews, Other Minorities Targets of Hate Crimes in Swedish City

Over the past few years, Simon Wiesenthal Center officials have had on-the-ground meetings with Jewish, Muslim, and Roma community leaders, Sweden's Justice Minister, as well as the officials - including Malmö's Mayor, and police chief - who have failed to protect the local rabbi and other Jews from hate crimes.

Last month, the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Director of International Relations, Dr. Shimon Samuels, participated in a seminar at Malmö University on "Anti-Semitism and Islamaphobia" and also briefed the US State Department Special Envoy on Anti-Semitism before her meeting with Malmö's mayor.

Dr. Samuels has urged that measures be taken against anti-Semitism in Malmö during his address to the 56 country Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Now in its second year, the Wiesenthal Center's Travel Advisory on Malmö remains in effect.

In the video below, which was provided to From The G-Man courtesy of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Dr. Samuels discusses the eye-opening and tense situation in Malmö with Rabbi Abraham Cooper.
