Tom Coughlin Gets Call from President Obama

This morning, President Obama called New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin to congratulate him and the rest of the team on their recent Super Bowl victory.  The President said that the team’s victory was a testament to Coach Coughlin’s leadership and that his team came across with true grit and determination.   President Obama told Coach Coughlin that he looks forward to shaking his hand and congratulating the team in person when they visit the White House.

Giants 'Victory Plates' Now Available


Cuomo: "I Join All New Yorkers in Congratulating the Team and Staff"

A New York Giants Super Bowl XLVI victory license plate to honor the championship team is now available.

The plate, available for both passenger and commercial vehicles registered in New York, features the NFL Giants' Big Blue NY logo with the words "Super Bowl XLVI Champions" as well as the official Super Bowl XLVI logo.

"I join all New York Giant fans in congratulating the team and staff, especially native-New Yorker coach Tom Coughlin, on this great Super Bowl victory," Governor Cuomo said.

"We are all very proud of the dedication, hard work and grace under pressure that enabled the Giants to bring the Vince Lombardi Trophy back to New York."

"This has been an amazing run for the Giants," Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Barbara J. Fiala added.

"Giants fans have always worn their hearts on their sleeve. So we are very pleased to offer this commemorative Super Bowl XLVI Champions custom license plate so that they can show their 'Big Blue' loyalty and championship pride on their vehicles."

The New York Giants Super Bowl XLVI Champions custom license plate can be ordered in any DMV office, online at 
www.dmv.ny.gov or by calling the Custom Plates Office at (518) 402-4838, Monday through Friday between 8 am and 4 pm.

The pricing for the New York Giants Super Bowl XLVI Champions plate is the same as the currently issued Giants plate. The initial cost for a standard issue plate is $60, with an annual renewal fee of $31.25.

The plate can be personalized with two to six characters for an initial fee of $91.25, with an annual renewal fee is $62.50. All custom and personalized plate fees are in addition to the regular registration renewal fee.

Those who already have a Giants custom or Super Bowl XVII plate can upgrade, but only by calling the Custom Plates Office. The cost to upgrade is $28.75 for a standard plate and $78.75 for a personalized plate.

Governors Talkin' 'Smack' on Super Bowl


Governor Cuomo and Massachusetts Governor Patrick Announce Super Bowl Wager

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick today announced an interstate wager on the matchup between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI (46).

If the Giants win, Governor Patrick will send Governor Cuomo: 46 Centerville Pies from “The Pie Ladies” in Centerville; Legal Sea Foods clam chowder; and 46 cases of Food Should Taste Good chips in Needham Heights.

Governor Cuomo will donate the proceeds to the Food Bank Association of NYS. 

If the Patriots win, Governor Cuomo will send Governor Patrick: 46 cases of one of the State’s newest and hottest exports- New York made Greek yogurt; 46 dozen bagels from Ess-a-Bagel in Manhattan; and 46 cheesecakes from Junior's in Brooklyn


Governor Patrick will donate the proceeds to a Massachusetts food bank.

"We all know what happened the last time the Giants and Patriots squared off in the Super Bowl, and there is no reason to believe the outcome will be any different this year," Governor Cuomo said.

"I look forward to congratulating the Giants on winning their fourth Super Bowl title and seeing Governor Patrick's generous wager offerings go to a food bank here in New York State."

"In the spirit of good sportsmanship, I wish the Giants well -- but not that well!" said Governor Patrick.

"We are looking forward to bringing another Super Bowl championship back to Massachusetts. Go Pats!"

Super Bowl XLVI will be played on Sunday, February 5 at 6:30pm EST.
