The following statement was submitted by Girls for Gender Equity (GGE).
The fight for the rights and protections of cisgender girls and Trans Gender Non-Conforming folks of color is a marathon, not a sprint. From our founding in 2001, we have been calling on government to protect girls and youth of color from sexual and gender-based violence, and we’re continuing that work by heading to Albany on March 26 to talk to our New York State elected officials. Will you join us?
Unpredictable winter weather affected our travel plans in February, but we’re headed back to Albany and would love for you to stand beside us. We’ll be focusing on legislation that will provide our young people with safe and supportive schools, will prevent violence and move towards safer communities, and will invest in our communities for the long term. Learn more by reading our 2019 New York State Policy Agenda here.
If you're not able to attend, follow us and #GGELobbyDay2019 on Twitter for updates throughout the day.
