ITHACA, N.Y. -- A Cornell University student, accused in a racist attack on a black student, has apologized for his role.
John Greenwood, 19, said he regretted using "completely unacceptable
language" in a verbal argument Friday. Greenwood's lawyer denies he was
involved in any physical fight.
Greenwood was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree
aggravated harassment, both misdemeanors. Police said he is responsible
for a possibly racially-motivated assault in the Collegetown
neighborhood of Ithaca early Friday morning.
