Governor Andrew Cuomo and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced
that New York will sue if President Trump ends Deferred Action for
Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy.
DACA is an Obama-era policy that protects undocumented immigrants who
came to the country as young children. Around 800,000 people are covered
under the policy, which was created in 2012.
"Recent reports indicate that President Trump will be ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy," Governor Cuomo said. "If he moves forward with this cruel action, New York State will sue to protect the 'dreamers' and the state's sovereign interest in the fair and equal application of the law.”
