Many Americans express concern about President Trump’s new immigration policies.
As a grandson of immigrants who has known and associated my entire life
with people who came to the United States from other countries, I
appreciate their perspective and respect their views.
But look closely at what was announced, and what’s really being done.
You’ll be reassured — as I am — that our policies and those enforcing
them are now headed in the right direction.
This is not, I repeat not, the beginning of some new, aggressive federal “deportation force” roaming America’s streets.
Simply put, the President’s executive orders, and the Department of
Homeland Security policy memos following through on those orders,
prioritize for removal from our country those convicted of or charged
with crimes, or who committed crimes in addition to their illegal entry.
Also, those who defraud the government, abuse welfare, ignore court
orders to leave or pose safety or security risks.
