The death of a man found hanged from a tree in an Atlanta park early
Thursday has been referred to the FBI, Atlanta’s mayor said.
Security officers discovered the as-yet-unidentified black man thought
to be between 25 and 35 years old around 5 a.m. near Piedmont Park’s
Charles Allen Dr. entrance, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
An emergency crew pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Police said the man was hanging by a rope from the tree, and
investigators called the scene "consistent with a suicide." Coroners
plan to rule the death a suicide, representatives for Fulton County
Medical Examiner's Office said Thursday night.
