Deputy National
Security Advisor Benjamin J. Rhodes met today with representatives from
the Vietnamese-American community at the White House. Attendees
included
leaders from academia, government, medicine, the military, and the
non-profit sector. He shared insights from the President’s trip to
Vietnam in May 2016 and highlighted progress in U.S.-Vietnam relations
over the past several years. Participants exchanged
views on a range of topics including education, trade and investment,
human rights, and immigration. He thanked participants for sharing
their personal stories—including some who came to America as
refugees—and for their leadership across a wide range of
sectors.
