FBI informants Gary Thomas Rowe and Mary Jo Cook testified before the
Church Committee on December 2, 1975, about their infiltration of the Ku
Klux Klan and anti-Vietnam War groups. Mr. Rowe, wearing a hood to
conceal his identity, described how he infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan and
with the knowledge of the FBI participated in violence against civil
rights activists. Ms. Cook described how she informed against
anti-Vietnam War activists. The informants were followed by Deputy
Associate FBI Director James Adams who defended the practice. The
hearing was preceded by interviews with former committee staffers
Frederick Schwarz and Elliot Maxwell, and followed by an interview with
Associate U.S. Senate Historian Katherine Scott. Video provided by NBC
