Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Tom Wheeler met with
reporters following a meeting in which commissioners voted 3-2 in favor
of allowing consumers to buy cable set-top boxes instead of renting them
from cable companies. Chair Wheeler talked about what the change will
mean for consumers. He was followed by FCC Media Bureau Chief William
Lake, who answered questions on how the proposal would be
implemented. Afterward, the two Republican FCC commissioners talked
about why they oppose the measure.
