From the Executive Chamber of New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff on Friday, October 7 in honor of a soldier from New York City who died in Afghanistan on October 3.

Army Private Danny Chen died in Kandahar province while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment of the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the 25th Infantry Division, stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

"On behalf of all New Yorkers, I send my profound sympathies to the family, friends, and fellow soldiers of Private Chen," Governor Cuomo said.
